Pre-endodontic composite buildup
The aim of root canal treatment (RCT) is mechanical and chemical disinfection of the root canal system and its subsequent obturation and sealing. To acquire aseptic operation area it is suitable to isolate the tooth with a rubber dam and properly seal the cavity with a temporary restoration between individual steps of RCT. Since many of the teeth, which need RCT present deep carious lesions, placing the rubber dam and temporary coronal restoration is sometimes difficult or even impossible. In these cases, before starting RCT, a pre-endodontic treatment is required. The article describes the procedure for the preendodontic composite restoration, which re-establishes the contour of the tooth and facilitates placement of the rubber dam and temporary coronal restoration.
